The RIXC Gallery received support for the artist residencies in 2022. Finnish artist Marko Timlin is currently at their residence where his exhibition is on view; recently a concert also took place there. Artist’s reflections about the residency programme:
“I think the most important and most beautiful aspect of artist residency is that you can work without any interruptions every day during the residency. And that, of course, this kind of continuous artistic work, every day, every night when you work and develop something is what creates artistic quality. Because I’m a true believer that to do meaningful artwork is to spend time with that artwork. And this applies to all art forms, dance, theatre, sound art, digital art, performance art, people have to understand you need to spend time with the topic to make it really good."
In 2023, a total of EUR 154 000 was granted to Latvian institutions and cultural operators. You can find out about all the beneficiaries and application descriptions here.
